gk-s indicator with green display

Adam Equipment recently launched our new GK-S and GK-Plus indicators, joining our GK and GKaM for a well-rounded weighing family. This blog will go into detail on the differences between each of our GK indicators and the features that make the range worth expanding.

Bench, Floor and Platform Scales

The GK has always been a versatile indicator, and we saw no reason to reduce that when designing the new GK-S and GK-Plus. Altogether, our entire GK family is offered in more than one-hundred different configurations, not including the indicators on their own. You can enjoy the GK family in combination with:

Our GBK, Approved GBK, GBK-S & GBK-Plus Bench Checkweighing Scales

Our GFK, Approved GFK, GFK-S & GFK-Plus Floor Checkweighing Scales

PT & PT Approved Platform Scales

                  PTM Platform Scales

                  AELP Pallet Beams

The weighing world is your oyster with the GK family, so let’s get into what makes them unique.

Display

Each indicator offers an LCD backlit display so the results can be read in any lighting. With 20mm/0.78”-high digits, our GK is easy to read from eight feet away. This reduces the need for proximity and enables quick readings from a distance.

With even more convenience in mind, our new GK-S and GK-Plus indicators both boast 40mm/1.6”-high digits, expanding the readable distance from eight to 16 feet – double the viewable distance. They can be read even in crowded or busy areas and more people have access to the results, helping to improve transparency within operations.

Checkweighing

The GK features a series of nine small LCD bulbs beside the display that light up when it senses an item is above, within or below your limits, like a traffic light. With nine bulbs, three per designation, the GK can notify you of the weight’s progression. For example, if the item is significantly below your limit, one yellow light will shine, and another if more weight is added to the pan. If it’s within your limits but on the higher side, three green lights will glow, etc.

Our new GK-S and GK-Plus are also designed so you’ll know where you fall on the scale of your limits, but in a quicker, clearer way. The display itself, rather than lights next to the display, change color to yellow, green or red if the item is below, within or above your limits.

The GK’s traffic-light system is excellent for those that would prefer to know approximately how close they are to achieving their goal without needing to pay strict attention to the results themselves. Those who want a clear, eye-catching indication with no fuss will enjoy the GK-S and GK-Plus’s simplicity. If you’re constantly moving around in your workspace, the GK-S and GK-Plus displays can be seen and understood out of the corner of your eye, while the GK requires the ability to look straight-on regularly.

Keypad

Both our GK and GK-Plus possess full numeric keypads to make setting complex checkweighing limits simpler. Dedicated buttons allow you to head straight into entering high and low limits, saving time and effort when checkweighing is performed regularly.

For those who perform checkweighing less regularly and would prefer a more simple, straightforward keypad, the GK-S is here to impress. Five dual-purpose buttons cut down on the learning curve and allow you to focus on your work – and when that work includes checkweighing, access to the function is close at hand.

Interface

All three indicators offer an RS-232 interface as well as the option for a USB, which would allow you to connect to a computer or printer easily. Computer software such as AdamDU can connect with up to eight scales or balances at the same time. You’ll receive immediate analysis of weight results. For example, should customers complain that their pies are looking a little stingy on the filling, you may want to look at an analysis of your recent weight results. If you find that all your most recent pies, though within your acceptable limits, have been on the lighter side, then perhaps it’s time to shift your production practices!

Connecting to our AIP or ATP2 printers makes it easy to sustain thorough, hard copies of your records. Thorough records ensure transparency in operations and allow you to travel back in time, if necessary, to cross reference details.

Power

When electricity’s scarce, you don’t want to worry about which equipment can safely be unplugged to free up space before you can use your weighing scale. Our GK and GK-Plus both boast internal rechargeable batteries, while our GK-S offers the option. With these, you can weigh wherever you want, rather than where there’s a power source. A 120-hour battery life ensures you get through 15 eight-hour workdays before recharging.

Trade Approval

While the GK and GK-Plus aren’t trade approved themselves, we produce trade approved editions of these products, the GKaM (For the US) and  (For the UK). This means that they can both be used to set prices based on weight in those regions.

Utilizing a trade approved checkweighing scale has multiple benefits. The first is that they’ve been thoroughly tested and deemed accurate by a governmental institution. This means that they’re trustworthy, which lends your company credibility. Another is to help guarantee consistency when the items you’re selling naturally vary in size.

For example, if you’re packing up clamshell baskets with strawberries and each basket costs the same. No strawberry is identical to another, so it’s impossible for every clamshell basket to be of equal weight. Still, you want to get as close as you can, so that charging the same price per basket is justified. With a trade approved checkweighing scale, you can set limits to accommodate for this variation and no customer will end up paying for a less-than-full basket.

Other Applications

Neither the GK, GK-Plus or GK-S exclusively perform checkweighing tasks. All of them retain parts counting, percentage weighing and check counting functions. Both the GK-S and the GK-Plus boast accumulation, while the GK-Plus goes above and beyond offering dynamic/animal weighing and net total weighing. While you may not need every function on a day-to-day basis, they’re available as an additional convenience if the opportunity arises.

Incidentally, should you perform parts counting operations more often than checkweighing, our GC Counting Indicator may be right for you.
