FAQ
If you're frequently handling nervous or moving animals, you may want to consider an animal scale with a dynamic weighing function. Dynamic weighing takes the average weight on the pan over a set period of time, like five to ten seconds. This means you can get an accurate weighing result even when the animal is moving, as long as they're on the pan the whole time. Adam's offer dynamic weighing.
Veterinarians should consider using a washdown or waterproof animal scale if there's a high probability that biological fluids or liquids will come in contact with the scale. Because you want to keep it clean and safe for every animal you need to weigh, the ability to wash the pan and body of the scale with soap and water is invaluable. Then just dry the scale and continue weighing your next patients.
If your weighing scale will be exposed to rain and mud, we would recommend an IP68 scale like Adam's . With stainless steel housing, it's rust and bacteria resistant as well as being able to hold up against particles and liquid ingress.
Our MTB Digital Scale is especially comfortable for small animals because the ergonomic weighing pan is shaped like a cradle. Simply tare out a blanket or small bed before weighing and they'll be happy to stay on the scale all day. For larger animals, like husky dogs or goats, stainless steel pans could be slippery. Our CPWplus L scales can be paired with a accessory for better grip.
Consider the general size of your clientelle. If you're weighing animals that range in size from an adult cat to a mastiff, you'll likely find the most use out of a floor scale. If you also weigh guinea pigs, hamsters, kittens and puppies, a bench scale is a solid addition. For those on the farm side of the veterinary industry, weighing goats, cows and horses, we recommend a heavy-duty platform scale.
